We are 3 or more jestering monkeys, summoning the spirit and general flair of our favorite american newscaster. We will discuss, debate and debase all things that tingle our tummies - sex, politics, music, culture and of course - sex. And politics.

Salon.com | A Theocratic Dark Age, an Interview with R. Dawkins

Salon.com News | The atheist

Dawkins gives an interesting interview on Atheism in an article from Salon.com (in order to read articles on salon - you have to watch a quick commercial - usually from PBS or Saab or some such. Click the button to get a "day pass" well worth it every day).

"...you are slipping towards a theocratic Dark Age. Which is very disagreeable for the very large number of educated, intelligent and right-thinking people in America. Unfortunately, at present, it's slightly outnumbered by the ignorant, uneducated people who voted Bush in.

But the broad direction of history is toward enlightenment, and so I think that what America is going through at the moment will prove to be a temporary reverse. I think there is great hope for the future. My advice would be, Don't despair, these things pass." - Richard Dawkins at Salon.com

Timothy McSweeney's Internet Tendency: Unused Audio Commentary by Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky, Recorded for the Return of the King (Platinum Series E

Timothy McSweeney's Internet Tendency: Unused Audio Commentary by Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky, Recorded for the Return of the King (Platinum Series Extended Edition) DVD

It is what it says. I think the best thing would be to print ou the entire commentary, invite a bunch of friends over, elect a zinn and a chomsky, and watch and listen to the "commentary" whilst drinking copious amounts of mead/rum&cokes.

I wanted to direct folks to this for two reasons - although i downloaded the 2cd "version" of Harry Potter soundtrack called "Wizard People, Dear Readers," by Brad Neely and made available by the Illegal-Art.org folks, I haven't tried it yet - mainly cuz i'm too lazy to rent Harry Potter. Secondly - I find great inspiration from the McSweeney's people. I have all of this time on my hands - McSweeney's reminds me it is time to stop wasting it.

BBC NEWS | Health | How tunes get stuck in your head

BBC NEWS | Health | How tunes get stuck in your head

Truly one of life's most unjust little pecadillos - the phantom song. Last week I was haunted by the theme tune to the Monkees', Edelweiss, and Dexy's "Come on Eilleen," for far too long on seperate occassions.

Luckily, my dear friend Beryl, aka The Great Sandwich, (find her here) once taught me the absolute cure for this disease (did this come from her biology background, her special relationship with God, good old fashioned Boise, ID common sense????): interrupt the terrible song in your head with the tune and lyrics of Billy Idol's "White Wedding." It works every damn time.

The researchers cited in this article don't mention this surefire cure, but they seem to hint at it.

New Scientist News - Pentagon reveals rejected chemical weapons

I like this one indeed! I believe that genemachine must rededicate his scientific powers to research on this project. Just think of the future of war!!! The uses for this are too numerous - any deployment ideas?
